What we know
P. P. Gomer's sawmills, 'considered the largest in the State' in the 1870s; the post office 'at Gomer's Mills' opened June 13, 1870 and became Elbert in 1882, when the business moved to the railroad. S. C. Stout was tie inspector here from 1869. Andrew Peterson was shot near Gomer's Mill by Evan Hall in 1872 (von Ahlefeldt p. 73).

Place Names of Colorado's Sec. 15, T10S R62W does not fit any of them.
