## What we know

Albert Howey, who ran a sawmill at this corner from the 1940s to 1952 until he lost an arm in it, built the store in 1950 (von Ahlefeldt pp. 96, 114) or about 1955 (Ellett p. 10) and ran it with his wife Wilma for about five years. 'Later Wilma married Alvin Brown and they ran the store another three years' (Ellett pp. 10, 22). This is the 'Brown's store' whose owner, Alvin Brown, spoke at the 1965 zoning hearing (Gazette, Sept. 3, 1965). The Glovers then ran it ten or twelve years, as Glover's Corner, and it closed in 1987. Gilbert Tevebaugh's late-1940s mill stood at the same corner, 'where the Black Forest Lumber Yard is now' (Ellett p. 65; von Ahlefeldt p. 114).

## Where it was

'On the corner of Black Forest and Burgess Roads' (Ellett p. 10; von Ahlefeldt p. 96); that junction in OpenStreetMap. Which corner is not stated. Good to a few hundred feet.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
